The short film Born With It shows how stereotypes can shape the way people see others and even how individuals see themselves. Reflect on the main character’s experience and explain how stereotypes impacted his identity and sense of belonging. Then, connect this to a broader idea: how can stereotypes influence the way a culture or group is understood by others? Use specific examples from the film to support your response.

Today we watched a video and answered questions but also worked on project. Today I learned that you have to live life you have to enjoy the present and keep your living moving with no grudge because it’s not good for your well being. The way they stereotype it is his people think they are or behave . People can actually misunderstand them judge them or treat them differently due to that. There’s different outcomes and could end up hurting or affecting someone. The way they stereotype a culture is how we think they culture is but could be different in reality.

Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices.

These letters show how Celie learns from the people around her, even in small ways. Think of someone in your life who influences you in a positive, everyday way—a friend, relative, teacher, or teammate. Write about what you’ve learned from them and how their influence shows up in your daily life.
