Much of this section focuses on Cheryl’s physical exhaustion and discomfort. Describe a moment when your body limited what you could do, and explain what that experience taught you about your mental strength.

When I went out to the gym  and forced my body to do more weight than what it can handle . My legs would shake and give me signals of my body limiting me to not force it . It’s okay to not force yourself at times because it’s less painful for you in the end ; just do everything as how your body can handle it. Today we did an assignment about quotes. I learned how much a person can change within the years when not hanging out with the right people or making the right decisions.

Describe a hike, long walk, or outdoor experience you have had and explain what it was like physically and mentally. If you have never been on a hike, describe a time when you were outside your comfort zone or had to rely on yourself in a challenging situation. Explain what you learned from the experience.

Pretend you are writing a blog entry as Celie; the moment you uncover the hidden letters. Describe what you would think, say, and do, and how this discovery would reshape how you see Mister and yourself. Reflect on why this moment would matter so much and how it would change your next choices.

These letters show how Celie learns from the people around her, even in small ways. Think of someone in your life who influences you in a positive, everyday way—a friend, relative, teacher, or teammate. Write about what you’ve learned from them and how their influence shows up in your daily life.
